Mad Men On Trains

Vincent Kartheiser and Rich Sommer sit down in 1965 to discuss why we need trains.

(this post was reblogged from funnyordie)

The City of Burlington has hired Resource Systems Group, Inc., as the primary consultant for the redesign of Colchester Avenue.

Their work is just beginning and, as part of the public information process, there will be a series of opportunities for resident input, either via Public Meetings called by the City or RSG, Inc., or via your Ward 1 Neighborhood Planning Assembly (NPA).

The first one of these is this Wednesday, March 10th, at our March NPA Meeting, which begins at 7.00 p.m.. Joe Segale of RSG, Inc., will be presenting an introduction to the Project, and there will be an opportunity for as much public participation as the audience wishes.

Colchester Avenue affects all Ward 1 residents, and I would urge anyone with concerns or interest in the improvement of this primary thoroughfare to attend.

… is scheduled to begin just after 8.00 p.m., at Memorial Lounge, in UVM’s Waterman Building.

via front porch forum. I will be attending this and I encourage you to as well. Let’s get some bike lanes already!

absolutely brilliant.

Transportation

Gasoline powered car transport is unsustainable and destroying the environment. Electric cars are nice, though don’t appear a viable replacement for cars. Public transport will be encouraged through incentives, gasoline taxes and education. A High speed rail system will be built servicing Vermont’s the largest towns. Money from the gasoline tax will go towards augmenting roads with bike paths. Additional bike paths will be created for transport in areas where a full size road might not make sense.
