Thinking
I’ve been thinking a lot about what Derrick jensen says about the necessary importation of resources being unsustainable. I decided I don’t actually disagree with him. He’s defining cities as always growing. Maybe then, is he saying for growth to plateau would require a total shift in perspective which people aren’t capable of. Sure cities can’t grow forever (unless we go out into space, but that’s another discussion). But if there are ample resources if people aren’t living beligerently extravagant lives, then it would still be inneficient to have to ship resources all over, though I don’t think unsustainable.
